Who am I:

Poornima Dasharathi (PD)

What I do:

  • travel – try to with a 5 year old in tow,
  • shoot - with my old SLR camera, still debating on purchasing that extended lens,
  • take people on my journeys – click here to read about Unhurried ,
  • write - on people, places, history, culture – anything that catches my eye,
  • read – a lot, especially Tintin & Asterix,
  • blog  - infrequently as you can see,
  • tell stories – to 4 year olds to 40 year olds, age no bar, drink filter coffee – these days, I’m also a Costa fan and
  • watch cricket – test match freak, not 20-20

More:

I have travelled to many places – from the freezing land of Scots to the blazing heat of San Diego – as a computer programmer, for nearly a decade. I love travelling to different places; it can be the usual touristy-lonely planet-in-hand routes or trekking in the wilds. Later I jumped into travel and writing full time and left my previous job altogether. When I realised that I had many travel tales in the bag , I started this blog  and out flowed the stories.

do that…I loved reading ur Up in the Air section(ironically watched the movie again yest!) – i should say i can share a few sentiments too…
and my worst experience has to be US immigration!!
u should do a section on airport chairs- Which has been the best or worst transit? I found Dubai to be comfy…u can lie with a book while waiting for the flight home to India …(if u find one!) or the bumpy, hardback..cant get comfy…cold chairs in heathrow..while i wait for the morning bus/train to return north?!

Hi Poornima ! Initially what led me to you now, is Admiral O.S.Dawson, who was my mentor and good friend when I was running my NGO-HAPPY HEARTS as I was the Founder / Director. ( I DO NOT KNOW IF HE WILL REMEMBER ME BECAUSE MY INTERACTION WITH HIM WAS VERY BRIEF BUT ALL THE SAME HE IS A WONDERFUL PERSON )
Now I am based in California, Orange since 2007. I am a Teacher and Counselor here. You are indeed a very interesting person and a soical-activist in your own right if I may say so in appreciating the feelings and sentiments of others in their nostalgia ! Could you please furnish me the Phone No. of Admiral Dawson as there is a need to speak to him in the interest of an American Student here who wants to know about Foreign Affairs in general and what does an Ambassadors/High Commissioners jobs entail. Thanks ! I hope to hear from you ! Regards, Charlie – CA

Poornima, you have put up a very nice blog. I was curious if you would be interested to write on our Travel site “www.travelingbeats.com” as a guest editor. Also, can we do a link exchange of our site?

    Awaiting your reply.
